You might’ve heard by now that Dubai is one of the world’s most prominent tourist destinations. With activities that can cater to all ages and lifestyles, one can never go wrong with a visit to this desert-turned-metropolitan kingdom. Tourists are presented with a vast array of options to choose from when it comes to looking for activities to do in Dubai. It doesn’t really matter what you’re in to as we’re pretty sure Dubai’s got something for everyone – from museums overflowing with culture and tradition, to malls that are some of the biggest in the world! (In fact, the biggest mall in the world currently stands on Dubai soil!) A little known fact, though, is that Dubai actually has more to it than these typical tourist destinations! Here are 3 often glossed-over tourist picks!
It’s typical for tourists to include a dubai desert safari somewhere in their itinerary, I mean, you’re visiting a city built on golden desert sand after all, how could you miss out on exploring the desert itself? What most tourists fail to know, though, is that one actually has more options than just the typical desert safari tour if they’re looking to traverse through Dubai’s desert. Although desert safari tours and dune buggies are two different things entirely, they share the same home base – sand! Dune Buggies are a less popular activity, maybe due to its adrenaline-filled style, but that should definitely not stop you from trying it out! Choose from a buggy, a motorcycle, quad bike, ATV, what have you, and ply through the desert landscape like a boss!
For the thrill seekers out there, Dubai has just the thing for you! Ferrari World currently houses the world’s fastest coaster, The Formula Rossa, which blasts at a speed of 240km/h in 4.9 seconds! If this doesn’t tingle your thrill senses, then we don’t know what will! Although Ferrari World technically isn’t in the city of Dubai, it is conveniently situated in the neighboring emirate, Abu Dhabi, which is a mere 1.5 hour drive away and pretty easy to commute to as well! Ferrari World is perfect for families, catering to all ages, interests, and fear levels! It has more than 20 rides and attractions, a variety of Italian restaurants, a souvenir shop, and exclusive entertainment.
If you’re more of the waterslide type rather than the rollercoaster type, do not fret! Dubai has quite a number of state-of-the-art waterparks. From the original Wild Wadi, which currently houses the Jumeirah Sceirah – a 120m slide that brings riders to the speed of up to 80km/h by dropping them through a trap door, to Aquaventure, the largest waterpark in Dubai which sits on the world-renowned Atlantis the Palm and also has its fair share of adrenaline-pumping rides and attractions, the only problem you’ll be having here is choosing! But if you’re up to it, it’s not a sin to try them all either!
Fishing in dubai
If you’re more of the outdoorsy-nature-lover type and are looking for fun in the sun, Dubai has numerous activities to offer as well! If you like fishing or are interested in trying it out, then you’re in luck! There are numerous companies in Dubai that offer fishing trips and cruising tours at friendly prices. This will also give you the opportunity to see Dubai in a whole new light, right from the waters of the gulf itself!
Fishing is a whole independent category in itself; you see, before Dubai transformed into the cosmopolitan jungle it is today, it thrived as a fishing village! This explains the vast amount of species of fish one can find when out in the open sea, and why both residents and tourists make it a point to try out these activities!
Be sure to experience these attractions when you visit Dubai, don’t stop with the dubai desert safari or trips to the city’s most glamorous malls! If there’s one thing about this city we’ve grown to love, it’s that there’s always more than what meets the eye.
